Memorial services for Bill Jack Hamblin, of Sperry, were held Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Turley Assembly of God in Turley, OK. Reverend James Jennings and Reverend Charles Matlock officiated and a private family interment followed. Honorary casket bearers were Anthony Hamblin, Brandon Hamblin, Derrick Hamblin, Billy Hamblin, Joseph Hamblin, and Clint Hamblin.
Bill was born July 24, 1943 in Claremore, OK to Orba “Shorty” and Ivera (Alexander) Hamblin. He passed away July 10, 2011 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 67.
Bill worked as a welder and became a welding supervisor. He enjoyed camping with his family. He loved fishing and hunting and he and his late wife, Carrie, enjoyed walking by the lake. Bill took extra special care of his late wife when she got sick and passed away. He always took care of his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Bill loved to watch old western movies and old TV shows. When he was younger, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and working on cars. Bill was loved by many and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his daughters, Juanita Owens and husband Mark of Turley, Tammy Hamblin of Sperry, Carrie Marsh and husband Jesse of Turley, Kim Basford of Disney, sons, Tony Hamblin of Turley, Kenny Basford of Spavinaw, James Basford of Disney, Chris Basford of Locust Grove, and Shawn Hamblin of Disney; grandchildren, Billy Hamblin of Turley, Jennifer Owens of Turley, Anthony Hamblin of Turley, Brandon Hamblin of Turley, Derrick Hamblin of Collinsville, Crystal Downing of Turley, Clint Hamblin of Turley, Joseph Hamblin of Turley, and Jessica Marsh of Turley; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma Alexander and husband Perry of Terlton, and donna Dobson and husband J.D. of Canadian, OK; brothers, Paul Hamblin and wife Georgia of Dewey, and Will Hamblin of Sperry; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Ella Hamblin; granddaughter, Ashley Marsh; parents, Shorty and Ivera Hamblin; brothers, Jimmy Hamblin and Buddy Hamblin; and sisters, Vivian Taft and Neva Bohanan.
